Quebec reports 29 fewer in hospital

There were 1,315 people in hospitals across Quebec with COVID-19 as of Thursday’s update from public health. This marked a decrease of 29 patients compared to the information available on Wednesday.

The number of people in intensive care also decreased slightly, reaching 43 after a drop of two.

There were 12 new deaths recorded for a total of 15,390 since the start of the pandemic.

The number of health care workers absent for Covid-related reasons dropped below 4,000 for the first time since Public Health began reporting on them. As of Thursday there were 3,998 out on preventive withdrawal, in isolation, awaiting test results, or other similar reasons.

In the Eastern Townships the level of COVID-19 hospitalization has varied very little over the last three days. After having decreased by one from Tuesday to Wednesday, the total went back up by one to 114 on Thursday, with three in Intensive care. Meanwhile the region recorded another Covid-related death, bringing the local total to 622 since the start of the pandemic.
