A march against Alzheimer’s

Special To The Record The Alzheimer’s Society Of The Eastern Townships Is Having A Fundraising Walk On May 28 To Help Fight The Terrible Disease.

The Walk Takes Place All Over Canada In Over 400 Communities. The Local Initiative Will Take Place In Downtown Sherbrooke At Parc Jacquescartier, Starting At 10: 30 A.m.

The Event Consists Of A 3.5 Km Walk Where Participants Take To The Trail To Raise Awareness, Carrying Signs Sharing Who They Walk For In A Show Of Solidarity For Friends And Loved Ones Affected By Alzheimer’s.

Director Of Development At The Société Alzheimer De L’estrie, Sandra Asselin, Said All The Money Raised Goes Towards Research And Support In The Eastern Townships. The Goal For The Upcoming Walk Is To Raise $15,000.

Asselin Encouraged People To Come Out And Get Active For The Cause As It’s A Problem That Can’t Be Solved Without The Help Of Communities Coming Together In Unison.

Website, Over 500,000 Canadians Currently Live With Dementia, With The Annual Cost On The Healthcare System Being Over $10 Billion.

The Event Encourages People To Take Part In The Solution And Make A Difference For People In Need By Spreading Awareness.

Asselin Said Those Who Wish To Participate Can Sign Up In Advance, Or At The Event For $15 Per Person, With Teams Of 4 To 12 Even Receiving A Gift Basket Upon Reaching A Donation Milestone.

In Collaboration With Provigo Le Marché, The Baskets Include Assorted Sandwiches, Cheese, Snacks And A Few Surprises!

Anyone Who Simply Wishes To Donate Can Do So Too, Asselin Explained, With Any Contribution Being Greatly Appreciated By The Society.

The Walk Itself Will Start At 10:30 A.m. Around The Beautiful Promenade Du Lac-des-nations.

After Being In Limited Contact For Two Years The Team Plans To Make What They Say Will Be A “Unifying And Festive” Day By Including A Mini

Celebration After The Walk!

Participants Are Encouraged To Bring A Picnic Lunch And Enjoy The Live Performance By Singer Vincent Poirier Under The Pavilion At Parc Jacques-cartier.

Anyone Wanting To Sport The Name During The Walk Or Just Take Home A Memento Can Get A T-shirt For $15 At The Société Alzheimer De L’estrie Office In Sherbrooke.

According To The Organization, Alzheimer’s Societies Across Canada Have Donated Over $59 Million In Biomedical And Quality Of Life Research Since 1989, With Events Like This Making It All Possible.
