Exciting news from ADS

After a fun filled month of April at ADS Elementary School, collecting bottles and cans for the Endangered Species of Canada Fund, we are happy to announce that our families and community members were very generous with their donations. We had some families go door to door in their communities collecting cans. We had families cleaning up their garages. We had cans coming from everywhere!

Thanks to the help of our Cycle 2 and 3 students, we were also able to collect all the can tabs as well. These can tabs were sent off to the Ronald Mcdonald Fund, where they will receive the profit from the melted aluminum. Once they are melted, these tabs will go towards the fabrication of wheelchairs. All this was possible because of one Grade 4 student who felt it was our duty as humans to help out these poor animals. Thank you, Nathan, for this amazing idea and thank you to all the students who helped. We were able to donate more than 18,200 can tabs to the Ronald Mcdonald

Fund and $500 was donated to The Endangered Species of Canada Fund. Very good job to all students involved in this project!

On May 5, we were finally able to welcome parents and community members to our Cycle 2 and Cycle 3 Science Fair and bake sale. Students worked really hard at preparing their science experiments. After weeks of hard work, students set up in their classrooms and the hallways of the school and presented their work to parents, staff and other students. Overall it was a very great success and parents really enjoyed seeing their children’s great effort. Parents and staff donated goodies to go towards a bake sale that was raising money for the Grade 6 graduation. After a complete sell out, the Grade 6 students were able to raise over $462 to go towards the preparation of their graduation. Congratulations to all the students who participated in this awesome Science Fair!
