Géraldine Doherty HARRISON

It is with sad regret that we announce the passing of

Géraldine Doherty Harrison. She died peacefully with family at her side in Gatineau, QC on August 3, 2022.

She was cherished and predeceased by her husband Gordon Harrison (2000), son Ronald Harrison (2017) and 3 newborn infants Joan (Joyce) and her twins Sandra (Theresa) and Stephen (Michael).

She will be sorely missed by her surviving children Ann Harrison and Carole (Michael Largy) Harrison and by her daughter-in-law Katy Oakley Harrison

Bleeker. She lovingly spoiled and was then spoiled by her grandchildren Anika Martel, Erick (Tracie Budge) Martel, Karl (Renee Massicotte) Harrison Martel, Sandra Harrison Martel; Sara Largy, Alexander Largy; Victoria Harrison, Rachel (Creighton Freidrich) Harrison, Benjamin (Kate Reynolds) Harrison, and Thomas Harrison. She leaves great-grandchildren Marie-eloïse (Arnaud Felmann) Lavoie Martel, Kristopher Martel, Aleksi Martel; Isabella Amorelli; Daphné Massicotte, Rose Harrison; Stella Rose Boucher and Calvin Harrison. Her optimism (‘tomorrow is another day’ and ‘when things can’t get any worse, they have to get better’); her faith in a better tomorrow; her generosity; and her ‘we can do anything’ attitude has been passed on with her love, compassion and kindness.

She was born in Bury, QC to James and Anna (Turcotte) Doherty where she grew up. She enjoyed and rarely missed the Bury 1st of July parade with her favourite strawberry shortcake!

She was always bustling about cooking, sewing, taking care of something or someone. She would follow us out the door to make sure our coat buttons were fastened, our scarf snug and most importantly that our ears were covered by a hat! She was a strong, resiliant woman, an inspiration, and a force to be reckoned with.

She was predeceased by her siblings Beatrice (Patrice Nadeau), Gerard (Gloria Sanshagrin), Rita (Georges Bellavance) and Theresa (Maurice Demers). She loved and was loved by her many nieces, nephews and their children.

We will all miss her laughter and loving presence.

May she rest in peace.

A service will be held on September 17 at the St. Louis de France Catholic Church

in East Angus (time to be determined), followed by internment at the Lakeside Cemetery in Bishopton/dudswell. The family will welcome relatives and friends

for a celebration of her life at the Summerhouse (weather permitting).
