Featured pet: Sweetie

Sweetie deserved better. After spending two long years at a shelter in rural Texas, Sweetie was transferred into our care in hopes that we could help her find the perfect home.

Within just a few short weeks of her arrival, Sweetie was adopted and we were thrilled that her long wait for a family was finally over. At least we thought it was.

Sadly, unable to continue caring for her, Sweetie’s adopters surrendered her back into our care. While we know life sometimes works out that way, this was a disappointing outcome. Sweetie is a lovely and well-behaved dog and she did nothing wrong.

True to her name, Sweetie is a sweetie and it’s time for this friendly and playful girl to find her real forever family. Affectionate and happy, Sweetie who is approximately 5-6 years old, loves taking long leisurely walks and she is very good on the leash. She also has fun playing fetch so a home with a securely fenced yard is a definite bonus. Since her adoption, Sweetie has put on a little too much extra weight so her adopters will need to help her trim down.

Sweetie, who we believe to be a shepherd/lab mix, is good with other dogs but she does require proper introductions and she can be protective of her food (only with other dogs, not people). Unfortunately, she cannot live with cats.

Sweetie is well behaved in the house however she was rarely left on her own so her ideal home is one where she is not left alone for long periods on a regular basis.

If you are looking for a fun and loyal companion, please consider Sweetie but only if you are in it for the long haul. Sweetie deserves to finally settle down and live out her life with a committed family who will stand by her to the very end.
