Ann Elizabeth (née Damon) LEARNED

It is with heaviness of heart that we announce the passing of our loving wife, mother, stepmother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Ann Learned. Ann left us peacefully on Monday, January 30, 2023 at the age of 82 years.

Beloved wife of Bruce Learned. Cherished mother of Glenn Damon Smith and Philip Austin Smith, and stepmother of John Learned and Suzanne Dube (Ron). She will be immensely missed by grandchildren Taelor Elizabeth Smith (Daniel), Shelby Renee Smith, Robert Patrick Smith, Damon Austin Smith, and Noah Learned. Great-grandmother of Malakai James Smith and Madilyn Faith Sligh. Predeceased by her parents Pearle (Smith) and Wendell Damon. Born in Sherbrooke, Québec, Ann undertook training in obstetric nursing in 1959-1960 at the Catherine Booth Hospital in Montréal, where she then worked as a dedicated health professional.

A magnanimous friend to many, Ann was renowned for her cooking, baking, and hosting skills. She delighted in welcoming others into her beautiful Kanata, Ontario home shared with her dearest Bruce, making any occasion meaningful and memorable.

Ann’s compassionate nature made canvassing the Kanata area for the Canadian Cancer Society’s Spring Daffodil charitable campaign among her favourite activities. She was often recognized for her outstanding achievements in fundraising. She will be profoundly missed and remembered for her playful spirit, warmth, and positive impact on this Earth and the lives of those she touched.

Family and friends may pay respects at the Kelly Funeral Home-kanata Chapel, 580 Eagleson Road, Kanata, ON, K2M 1H4, 613-591-6580, on Thursday, February 9, 2023 from 10-11 a.m., followed by a Memorial Service in the Chapel at 11 a.m. For those wishing, In Memoriam donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
