Quebec 4-H Agricultural Tour

By Ryley Keenan Age 19, Richmond 4-H Youth Reporter

Quebec 4-H’s first in-person Agriculture tour since the pandemic was a great success! The host club, Richmond 4-H, had 44 members as well as 9 leaders and parents from clubs all over Quebec.

The participants saw a diverse array of agricultural enterprises, everything from fertilizer production to highland cattle farming. The weekend started Friday night with the members meeting and getting to know each other through games and icebreakers.

Saturday the tour began with sheep and highland cattle followed by pig farming, a sugar bush, a dairy farm and cheese factory, and a fertilizer plant. That evening the participants met up

Bottom right, once again for a supper at the Danville curling club, which was followed by curling and square dancing.

On our last day of the tour, the members visited a speckled park cattle operation, a dairy farm, and a horse farm which also uses agrotourism to teach the general public about all kinds of agriculture.

Members showed great participation while getting to meet members from across Quebec and learning more about the agricultural community. All of this was made possible thanks to our generous sponsors.
