Massawippi Valley Foundation gala raises over $40,000

Record Staff

In an impressive display of community spirit and generosity, the Massawippi Valley Foundation (MVF) recently hosted a gala at Hovey Manor, successfully raising over $40,000. This significant fundraising event was dedicated to enhancing healthcare access in the Massawippi Valley region, supporting a range of essential services managed by the MVF. The Foundation’s mission focuses on bridging gaps in the healthcare system, improving patient wait times, and providing relief to overburdened emergency rooms.

The gala, themed “Making a Difference in your Community,” saw a full house comprising donors, business leaders, government supporters, and dedicated clinic members. Attendees were treated to an evening of music, an engaging interactive speech by Christiane Germain and her daughter Marie-pier of Germain hotels, and a gourmet meal at the picturesque Hovey Manor.

A major highlight of the event was

the presentation of the Foundation’s Community Builder Award to Global Excel and the Allatt family. Karen Allatt warmly addressed the audience on behalf of her family. Adding to the celebratory atmosphere, Foundation President Michel Rodrigue announced the opening of the Foundation’s first satellite clinic in Lennoxville in 2024, in collaboration with Global Excel. This new clinic aims to provide primary and medical care closer to more citizens of the Massawippi Valley and its surrounding areas.

The gala’s success was further bolstered by a silent auction, featuring 90 items donated by local businesses, artisans, and individuals. This auction, along with the enthusiastic participation of members and friends of the Foundation, significantly exceeded fundraising expectations.

One attendee encapsulated the sentiment of the evening, expressing gratitude for the accessible, bilingual clinic services near their home and a commitment to support future events.

The Foundation extends an invitation for volunteer involvement, encouraging interested individuals to contact them at info@fondationfvm. ca. As a grassroots charitable organization, the Massawippi Valley Foundation remains dedicated to funding and improving healthcare services in the Massawippi Valley and its neighboring regions.
