Mable Hastings

This Sunday, June 11 the “La Chouette Chorale” choir will present a sold out afternoon concert at the Missisquoi North Volunteer Centre (CABMN) Feather in the Wind Senior Centre (former St.paul’s Anglican Church), located at 309 Principale in Mansonville. Don’t despair if you don’t have tickets for this performance, the choir will be repeating the show on Saturday, June 17 starting at 7:30 p.m. in the same location. Tickets are limited and are on sale now at $10 per person. Contact choir member Lucie Beaudoin at 450292-5012 to reserve yours today!

This is a newly formed choir with both men and women participating under choir director Marie Lyne Phare. Marie Lyne was the director of the former choir in Potton which had all women participants. Marie Lyne has an impressive background in music.

After studying in visual arts, Marie Lyne completed a bachelor degree in classical music and has become a choir director for various choirs in her career. She completed an intensive stage in choir directing with the Quebec Choral Alliance. Marie Lyne is enjoying the mix of voices in having both men and women involved this year in Potton.

“Music has an unifying power and pushes us to evolve individually and collectively,” said Marie Lyne. “It is a gesture of generosity from the heart as voices join together and bring the joy of music to all.”

The 13-member choir will “take you away” on a musical journey. With the support of the Municipality of Potton and the CABMN, the mission is to offer an activity accessible to all citizens with a love for music and singing. It is truly an initiative to bring people together.

“We also have the support of forty local businesses and individuals who have so generously contributed to our efforts,” said Lucie Beaudoin, member of the choir. “It is their contribution and the support of those who attend the two day event that will allow us to continue our efforts in future,” she added.

The show on Saturday, June 17 will be a different experience than the Sunday afternoon performance on June 11 because it will take place in the evening and this creates a different ambiance in the beautiful church building.

“The acoustics in the sanctuary are impeccable and exceptional,” said Beaudoin. “You have to hear it to believe it!”

If you have a love for the sound of a choir, enjoy a community initiative and the opportunity to have an inexpensive evening out, this is the event for you. All you need to do now is reserve your ticket and the Chouette Chorale will take you away.
